Material Compatibility and Quality Considerations
Fuel-system O-rings require application-specific material selection. A rubber compound should not be described as fuel-resistant solely because it tolerates heat. For a new project, the customer and manufacturing team should agree on the fuel composition, design dimensions and tolerances, hardness, compression-set requirements, and any necessary validation tests. Material and performance claims should be supported by the selected compound’s technical data and the agreed testing procedure.
For repeat production, the inspection plan can cover relevant dimensions, visual condition, hardness, and agreed functional or material checks. The required acceptance criteria depend on the customer’s drawing and the intended application.
