High-Performance Custom Silicone Diaphragm Solutions

The performance of a pump, valve or regulator often depends on the mechanical integrity of its diaphragm. Temco Rubber develops custom silicone diaphragms around defined requirements for pressure, stroke, temperature exposure and chemical compatibility.

From prototype development through high-volume production, our engineering approach focuses on repeatable geometry, uniform wall thickness and long-term fatigue performance.

Both homogeneous and reinforced constructions can be developed depending on operating pressure, movement and structural requirements.

Custom Molded Silicone Diaphragm Configurations

Diaphragm geometry can be engineered around the required stroke length, pressure range, sensitivity and available assembly space.

Rolling Silicone Diaphragm

Rolling Diaphragms

Designed for long-stroke applications requiring low friction, high sensitivity and controlled rolling movement between piston and cylinder surfaces.

Convoluted Silicone Diaphragm

Convoluted Diaphragms

Corrugated membrane geometry allows significant travel while helping maintain a relatively consistent effective pressure area.

Flat Silicone Diaphragm Membrane

Flat Disc Membranes

Simple precision membranes for short-stroke sensing, low-pressure regulation and compact valve applications.

Dish Shaped Silicone Diaphragm

Dish-Shaped Diaphragms

Application-specific curved membranes optimized for defined pressure-to-deflection relationships in actuators and control valves.

Diaphragm Reinforcement & Structural Compositions

Material architecture can be adapted according to pressure, stroke, tensile loading and assembly requirements.

Fabric Reinforced Silicone Diaphragm

Homogeneous Silicone

Manufactured entirely from silicone rubber for applications where flexibility, purity and unrestricted membrane movement are more important than structural reinforcement.

Fabric-Reinforced Diaphragms

Dacron, Nylon or Nomex reinforcement can be integrated into the silicone membrane to increase tensile stability and reduce elongation under high differential pressure.

Silicone-to-Metal & Plastic Bonding

Silicone can be molded directly onto compatible rigid inserts to simplify assembly and produce an integrated, permanently bonded sealing component.

Industrial Silicone Diaphragm Applications

Custom silicone membranes are used wherever accurate fluid, gas or pressure control depends on a flexible sealing element.

Silicone Diaphragms for Valves and Regulators

Fluid & Gas Control Systems

Pressure regulators, pneumatic valves and hydraulic actuators use silicone diaphragms to accurately modulate pressure and isolate control chambers.

Silicone Diaphragms for Pumps

Pumps & Compressors

High-cycle membranes for diaphragm pumps, vacuum systems and dosing equipment where fatigue resistance and elastic recovery are essential.

Medical Grade Silicone Diaphragm

Medical & Sanitary Devices

Medical and food-grade silicone diaphragms for ventilators, anesthesia equipment and sanitary valves requiring clean, high-purity elastomeric components.

Precision Silicone Rubber Diaphragm Manufacturing

Uniform wall thickness, controlled flash and repeatable geometry are central to reliable diaphragm performance.

1. Application & DFM Review

Geometry, stroke, pressure, hardness and reinforcement requirements are evaluated before tooling development.

2. Precision Tooling

Our high-precision silicone tooling is designed to minimize parting-line interference and maintain controlled membrane thickness.

3. Compression or LSR Molding

Compression molding supports robust HCR diaphragm production, while Liquid Silicone Rubber injection is especially effective for micro-diaphragms and thin-wall geometries.

4. Inspection & Validation

Finished membranes are inspected for dimensional consistency, surface defects, reinforcement integrity and sealing-critical features.

Silicone Diaphragm Dynamic Fatigue Testing

Dynamic Fatigue & Hysteresis Control

A diaphragm operates under repeated flexing, which makes dynamic fatigue resistance one of the most important material characteristics in long-term service.

Our compound selection and membrane design approach focuses on maintaining elastic recovery while reducing permanent set and performance drift during repeated cycling.

Reinforcement architecture can also be optimized where pressure loading or membrane elongation would otherwise reduce dimensional stability.

Diaphragm Quality Assurance & Testing

Performance validation focuses on dynamic life, material integrity and leak-free operation.

01

Cycle Life Testing

Repeated mechanical movement is simulated to evaluate durability and expected diaphragm service life.

02

Tear Resistance Testing

Elastomer strength is evaluated to understand resistance to tear initiation and propagation during operation.

03

Pressure Leak Testing

Bonded and reinforced diaphragms can be checked for leakage under application-specific pressure conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Technical information about reinforced membranes, LSR molding and temperature performance.

When should I choose a fabric-reinforced silicone diaphragm over a homogeneous diaphragm? +
A fabric-reinforced custom silicone diaphragm is typically preferred when the application involves elevated differential pressure or repetitive cycling that could stretch a homogeneous membrane. The reinforcement provides additional tensile and dimensional stability, helping reduce ballooning under pressure. Homogeneous silicone diaphragms are better suited to lower-pressure applications where maximum flexibility and sensitivity are required.
What are the advantages of LSR for micro and thin-wall diaphragms? +
Liquid Silicone Rubber has low viscosity, allowing it to flow into very thin and complex mold cavities. This makes LSR particularly suitable for micro-diaphragms requiring uniform membrane thickness and repeatable precision. The process can also support rapid automated production for higher-volume applications.
How do silicone diaphragms perform under extreme temperature cycling? +
Silicone maintains useful flexibility and elastic behavior across a wide temperature range. Custom silicone diaphragms can be formulated for operating conditions approximately from -60°C to +230°C, allowing sealing and membrane response to remain more consistent through repeated heating and cooling cycles than many conventional elastomers.
